Arts in the Valley

All artists have been hit by COVID. No live performances. No in-person workshops. We all know the deal.

For the past five years, spring has meant dress runs and tech runs for the Flemington Theatre Company's annual show. We're really missing it this year.

I established the FTC in 2015 as an inclusive community theatre group and love the theatre community we've got going locally. There are so many local artists and creatives. We are rich in creative talent in Moonee Valley!

If elected to Council, I will be very keen to increase Council's support for arts groups and artists. Council can better support its residents as creators and generators of the arts. We need more spaces for exhibitions and performances (that aren't priced out of reach). We need to see artists as part of our local economy.

And we need to promote inclusivity in the arts by embracing artistic diversity.

The FTC is working on a small digital taster of our next production and we can't wait to be back on stage.

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which I live, and pay my respects to the Elders, past and present.
